越來越多的證據(jù)表明空氣污染和關(guān)節(jié)病之間有著密切的聯(lián)系。雖然超細(xì)顆粒(ultrafine particles, UFPs)對關(guān)節(jié)的間接影響,即通過誘導(dǎo)炎性細(xì)胞因子,已經(jīng)被證實,但是在理解外來顆粒對關(guān)節(jié)的直接威脅方面仍然存在空白。最近,中國科學(xué)院生態(tài)環(huán)境科學(xué)研究中心團(tuán)隊在期刊《Nano Today》(IF=20.722)上發(fā)表題為“Intrusion of inhaled exotic ultrafine particles into the knee joint in humans and animals: A risk to the joint and surrounding tissues.”的文章,在骨關(guān)節(jié)炎患者的人類膝關(guān)節(jié)積液中發(fā)現(xiàn)了外來的 UFPs,并通過計算它們的化學(xué)和結(jié)構(gòu)指紋來識別這些 UFPs的周圍環(huán)境暴露源,包括天然礦物和金屬氧化物顆粒(即銅鎳礦和赤鐵礦)。此外,動物實驗揭示了吸入的 UFPs轉(zhuǎn)移到關(guān)節(jié)中。組織學(xué)檢查發(fā)現(xiàn)關(guān)節(jié)中UFPs的侵入對滑膜和軟骨造成了明顯的損傷。借助于同位素標(biāo)記,研究者證實了 UFPs在關(guān)節(jié)中的侵入,并獲得了相應(yīng)的小鼠retention kinetics。該研究成果提供了外來顆粒侵入關(guān)節(jié)腔的直接證據(jù),并確定了吸入的 UFPs從吸入系統(tǒng)轉(zhuǎn)移到關(guān)節(jié)和關(guān)節(jié)保護(hù)系統(tǒng)的損傷。這項研究提供了空氣污染對關(guān)節(jié)的不利影響額外的見解,并對特別是與空氣污染有關(guān)的公共衛(wèi)生措施具有至關(guān)重要的意義。
